Amazon and Constellation sign a 20-year PPA tied to the Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant
Amazon and Constellation signed a 20-year PPA backing improvements and renovations at the 1,790-MW Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center. Amazon will receive 690 MW of power from the nuclear plant.
Why it matters. The plant is producing enough electricity to power approximately 1.3 million homes.

Regulators freeze a PJM data center power plan over who pays
Federal regulators suspended a plan to secure new power for data center growth on the nation's largest grid. The procurement had planned to take offers from Sept. 30 through Oct. 21 for about 6.8 gigawatts of new capacity.
Why it matters. The report says the plan could put up to $562 million on customers of two Maryland utilities.

Goldman Sachs expects 38% growth in US data center power demand despite opposition
Goldman Sachs now expects US data center power demand to grow 38% (12 GW) in 2026 and 38% (17 GW) in 2027. It says angry neighbors are unlikely to stop data centers from going live in 2027.
Why it matters. The note cites polling that 64% of voters would be less likely to support a candidate who backs a local data center.
