Oracle on October 2 announced a commitment to subscribe to a portion of the existing Point Beach Nuclear Plant's generation, the company said. The planned subscription remains subject to approval by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
Why it matters. Oracle said the action is expected to save Wisconsin utility customers approximately $300 million in fuel costs. The commitment is tied to Project Lighthouse, its data center development in Port Washington.

Michigan regulators approve DTE contracts to serve a Google data center
The Michigan Public Service Commission approved special contracts between DTE Electric Co. and Google LLC. The contracts set a contract length of 20 years and a minimum billing demand of 80%.
Why it matters. The contracts cover up to 1,600 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy and 480 MW of battery energy storage to serve the data center. The 20-year length compares to 5-year contracts normally required under DTE Electric's large-load D11 rate.

Pennsylvania PUC votes 4-0 to seek comment on data center curtailment rules
By a vote of 4-0, the Commission approved a Tentative Order seeking public comment on proposed changes. Large loads such as data centers would not be classified by electric distribution companies as critical loads that would be exempt from curtailment.
Why it matters. The Commission anticipates considering a Final Order at its Jan. 28, 2027, public meeting. A Technical Conference on large load costs is scheduled for Nov. 17.
